For centuries, believers have presented their children to the Lord, acknowledging that their little ones belong to God and are given to us on loan to raise in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Dedications take place quarterly on Sunday mornings during the 10:30 a.m. service. What is child dedication?

An opportunity for parents to publicly acknowledge their child as a gift from God and to commit themselves to pass on their faith in Christ to their child, raising them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord; and an opportunity for the church to both rejoice with the parents and to commit themselves to praying and encouraging the child as he/she grows toward maturity.

What is the biblical basis for dedicating your child?

A child dedication is a public declaration of your intent to follow Christ as Lord of your home and to obey. (Ephesians 6:4)

What are the requirements for dedicating my child? 

A personal faith in Christ and a commitment to passing on that faith to your child.

How old should my child be when I dedicate him or her? Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit. You can dedicate your newborn, toddler, elementary schooler, or high schooler. 

What happens at a child dedication?

The parents and children who are participating stand in front of the congregation. The parents promise to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord and the congregation promises to support these parents and children. Then a Creekside pastor introduces each family and explains the meaning of each child's name. Each child receives a Bible verse based on the meaning of his or her name and then the pastor prays for that child.
